most of the better bike companies are putting discs on bikes now even my wife $400 bike has a front disk.
this one has hydraulic brakes with 6.5" inch rotors that stop on a dime, no carbon fiber on this bike, a carbon fiber bike is at least $3-5k just for the frame. Kona is a Canadian-American company with like most companies the frames are made in asia then assembled Stateside.
this bike is not for commuting, it is only good for 2 things climbing and bombing!:D

very nice bike. Kona makes some very nice stuff.
I bought a Kona "Kula" hardtail 11 years ago. It is a sweet ride, but unfortunately a badly damaged ankle won't let me ride that well anymore. So it's just been stored since Thanksgiving 98'.
Same thing though, the exact same thing in Titanium was another $1500 and for what? To save about 16-18oz?
Enjoy it as I know you will.
Nice bike S,You should ride that down the Moose Mountain Access road.

I've driven it a few times but never crazy enough to ride a bike down it :D
A better, less intimidating ride is the 7 km ride to "Ing's Mine" otherwise known as the road to Canyon Creek Ice Cave. The road has been gated for a few yrs now as it's Shell Oil land but as far as i know,Bikes are allowed around the gate.

thanks for the trail idea, we are always looking for new trails and Bragg Creek is more appealing as it is only 20 minutes from us. i will look this trail up and we still have a few weeks of biking left.
