Peugeot flies to Sebring pole

#8 Peugeot, Sebring 2011Peugeot driver Stephane Sarrazin claimed pole position for tomorrow's Sebring 12 Hours by more than a second.
Sarrazin set a best time of 1m46.571s at the wheel of the French manufacturer's new 908 HDi turbodiesel LMP1 coupe. Second place on the grid for the opening round of the Intercontinental Le Mans Cup went to the Audi R15 Plus driven by Romain Dumas on a 1m47.680s.
Sarrazin, who is sharing his 908 with Franck Montagny and Pedro Lamy this weekend, said: "I decided to wait a few minutes before going out. I found a good lap, which was better than expected."
Peugeot and Audi also shared out the second row, with Marc Gene just ahead of Tom Kristensen.
The year-old 908 entered by the French ORECA team claimed fifth place in the hands of Loic Duval.
The first US team in qualifying at Sebring, which is also the opening round of the American Le Mans Series, was the Muscle Milk AMR squad. Klaus Graf ended up a couple of tenths quicker in the Lola-Aston Martin coupe than Simon Pagenaud aboard Highcroft Racing's HPD-01e.
Soheil Ayari took LMP2 honours in the SignaTech ORECA-Nissan, while Gianmaria Bruni claimed the GTE pole in his AF Corse Ferrari 430 GT from Oliver Gavin's Chevrolet Corvette C6.R.

My Ass Hurts from sitting here at my computer desk! I'm so glad ABC is airing Hannah Montana and tennis instead of the race.
Doh!

In reading the Autosport updates I see the Pug and Audi collided (as per your screen shot)............who hit who?

Another example of new not always being the best. Well done Oreca.
And, hats off to the Honda boys. Nicely done!!!
Lastly, is there anyone better than McNish when the bit is between his teeth?

I think this might be a classic case of,outside of the hardcore fan,"out of sight, out of mind."...

Here's to that. ALMS wants ABC because they have more households. BUT is you don't put it on TV in those households then who cares! Bring back Speedvision!

That is strange of all the articales I could have picked to start this thread.
I thought it was a good race, yes it would have been nice if Speedtv had it on, I had to go to the Leaf vs Bruin game so i miss the last half. and had no way of recording it

Well, that was crap coverage.
A 12 hour race condensed into a 1 hour time slop wherein actual race coverage totaled no more than 40 minutes.
What the hell was AMLS thinking????? This is how they expect to generate more interest?
They really do need to give their collective heads a shake.

It's still easy to see if you get ESPN3. Their website lets you replay anything that they host live. That's how I see some Serie A matches when I have time, not when they air live. I just checked the site and I'm watching the race again right now.
I just wish I knew how to record a streaming feed to play it on my tv.

And given that the T in TOMO stands for Toronto I think it safe to assume most of the particpants here, in particular the disgruntled ones, live in..............Canada.
A real bone headed move by ALMS.

I gave ESPN 3 an hour and a half and then turned it off.
My TWC connection/download speed was 25-35Mb per second and never dipped lower than 12Mb per second (real time monitoring on my killer zino nick card)so bandwidth was not an issue.
Picture quality was acceptable at best and certianly not anywhere close to HD, I was running HDMI output from my PC (dual EVGA GTX460's in SLI) to my 50in Panasonic Plasma
video and audio glitches in the broadcast
Coverage was average at best.
Commercials - WTF might as well be broadcast on Speed!
A one year wait for one of my 3 favorite races of the year and I could not have been more disappointed. That was the first and last ALMS I watch on ESPN 3 this season.
Nice job ALMS = F- Epic Fail
Next stop June and the 24 on Speed :D
