Well now, this is encouraging. But with Highcroft dropping back to LMP2 who will they run against?
Nonetheless, it will be nice to hear the big Aston engine rumble past.

Very cool. Not only that, but Derrick Walker has entered the GT class with Porsche and Falken tyres.

Hey All,
There have been a few good annoucements in the world of ALMS but there is one that I am not 100% sure if its going to be good for Canadians...
The new deal that Scott announced for their media kit for the upcoming season has got me a bit pissed...:mad::mad:
It you check the announcement on the ALMS website you will see that ABC and ESPN and ESPN3.com will cover the events. I believe that Le Mans and Sebring are not to be covered or if there are it will be in a BEST OF THE RACE kind of show...I don't know how they can do that...SPEED was the best for those races. In addition to that - I believe that ABC will not cover all races - there will not be live action and will only available on tape delay. I don't even know if Mosport will be featured on ABC. Now for us in Canada the news doesn't get much better....we don't get ESPN and we do not get ESPN3.com coverage on the internet...so I don't really know where that leaves us. I am not sure if anythings changed but I do have it from good sources that this is the way its going to be for next season...I don't know if TSN will pick it up on maybe TSN2? Their coverage of motor sports is to say it simply - crap. So even if there is coverage in Canada I don't think it will be that great...
Oh well, thoughts on this would be appreciated...or even suggestions on how to get my ALMS fix for the next season and maybe forever:eek::eek::eek:....
Thanks!

Why don't you get ESPN3? It's a website. Is it blocked by the Chicom?

The last time I checked www.espn3.com is unavailable in Canada. I just checked a few days ago and they asked for my cable provider and my ZIP Code.
I checked under the list of internet cable providers - rogers and bell where not on the list. I believe its got to do with the CRTC in canada and the fact that TSN does not want it here...

Think ESPN3.com is available via subscription if you don't have one of the "partner" cable providers.
I gotta agree with you, though- I think this is a "one step forward, two steps back" type deal for the ALMS. Being on ABC/ESPN is good exposure for the shorter races, but the two marquee events won't even have half of their scheduled time televised.
Having Sebring and Petit on SPEED was great- with pretty much everyone now having huge HD flat-panels and bitchin sound systems in our living rooms, who wants to sit in front of a computer screen for 12 and 10 hour races?

Like many of the BBC services available on the web ESPN3 is blocked for distribution in Canada. Thank you Mr CRTC.
Here is the official ALMS press release.

Clearly all races will be covered, but it is not good news how that coverage is being provided.
As for the real race (Le Mans), there is no mention of that one being included in the ABC/ESPN deal.
Can we hope (and pray) that Speed will continue to cover that one race? I would certainly hope so as it may the only chance some of us get to see the new Audi and the new Pugs battling it out.

WTF!!!! a 90 min hi-light reel of a 12hr race?!?!?!?:mad::mad:
What kind of BULLSH!T is that?!?!?!?:mad:
So far, I've got no reply to the inquiries I've sent and what pisses me off the most about that is one was sent to Speed, specifically regarding LeMans. Nice customer service!!!!:mad:

Hey as far as I am concerned I have voiced my opinions via facebook and with the powers that be at ALMS. But what's the point...the deal is DONE. I can't say that I am DONE but what is sure is that we in CANADA are going to get the butts end of the stick on this...
It is true that LeMans and I think was it 12 hrs Sebring are not under the control of this new media package. I have spoken to John Dagys and Jaime Howe at speed and I believe that they will still control those broadcasts and that the coverage will be as per years past! I believe that it has something to do with the ACO (please don't jump down my throat) the powers that be in Europe that run the LeMans series over there. I believe that they are specifically excluded from this new media deal because of the presence of the AUDIs, Pugs and other international teams. This is specifically an AMERICAN ALMS media deal. So I am hoping upon hope that I will be able to get my fix of ALMS plus the biggies over seas teams when they race together...
It really suxs that MOSPORT the 3rd best attended race of the series is not even on TV for us to tape/record on ABC. It's coverage is limited only ESPN...funny how that really screws us twice...We can't watch our own "HOME" race on TV....and we can't watch more than 4 total races to whole year....oh boy this is going to be a tough year...F1 better improve...I only wish that motorsports would get better...Indy Car - days with Moore, Tracy, JV, PaT Carpenter, Emerson, Andretti (Mario not his son Michael), everybody even Scott Goodyear it used to be so good but now.....no comment....I don't like NASCAR - will never watch it...I wish we could get more FIA GT CUP racing or BTCC...it would help....
Anyways, rambling...my .2cents!

Thanks for that update Maddox.
Good to hear that at least Sebring and LM24 will be via SPEED. I'll definitely have to figure out which channel is ESPN and will still follow as much as possible.
I agree about the FIA GT1 and BTCC, but they are being shown on SPEED right now, however I think the GT1 is finished, but they're just about 1/2 way through the BTCC, DTM, WTCC and just started with the Porsche Supercup series.
