Michael Schumacher is set to defend his title at the International Challenge of Go-Kart Champs in Brazil later this year.
The event, which is organised by Ferrari’s Felipe Massa, will have a grid of 26 karts driven by guest drivers and will take place in the Brazilian city of Florianopolis on November 30.
Massa said that Schumacher had been eager to defend his victory last year and that the German had approached him while helping out Ferrari in Hockenheim.
“To be honest, I didn’t even have to invite him to comeback,” Massa told his official website.
“He told me recently in Hockenheim that he wished to race again because he loves the town and the relaxed atmosphere he found here.”
Massa is also keen to get Robert Kubica on board, after the Pole missed out on the chance of racing in the event last year.
“Almost everything was set for Kubica to attend the race in 2007, but at the last minute a commitment prevented him from coming,” Massa said.
“He watched the International Challenge on TV and knows what the race is about.
“Now I’m confident that he will be able to take part for the first time”
Rubens Barrichello, Sebastian Bourdais, Nelson Piquet Jr and Sebastian Vettel are among the other Formula 1 driver tipped to take part.
Are these events usually televised or is it a YouTube thing?
