from feedmesportscars:

It's now August so it must be the time of year to talk Porsche...

September is the traditional time that Porsche announces their plans for the following season and it looks like that tradition is not going to change.

Speed TV's 'Wind Tunnel' program has flagged one potential scenario that Porsche might follow - and it isn't good.

They have said that due to the success for their customer program for the RS Spyder, that they will not be continuing with the factory support for Penske in P2.

Tim Cindric of Penkse Racing said, of the rumour, that he "...hopes it is not true..."

The FMSC View

So this could be one of four things in our view:

1. Penske pulls out - that is bad
2. Penske continues without factory support - that could be ok
3. Porsche and Penske continue as is - that is good
4. Porsche moves to P1, supporting Penske or someone else - that would be great.

But there was rumour everywhere last year about Porsche pulling out but they came back - could it be the same this year?

Time will tell...

well, good if they remove the factory support- better to see open and fair competition. helps audi, assuming they are back in P1. but that would be my preference, to see great competition in P2, like we have had this season. or porsche in P1, that would be cool too

I would like to see Porsche in P1 but I have a feeling that would be the end of Audi being there and I really don't want that. Unless they ran a P1 Porsche and Audi I hope nothing changes for next year.

I agree with both of you guys. Porsche in P1 would be great, but unlikely.

Removing factory support from Penske would be good as well, only because Penske is too much a "factory" team and P2 is for privateers.

Acura is supposed to go P1 next year, but I hope they also maintain their P2 program.

If they go P1 will it be a works team or will thier current private teams move to P1?
