Dan Wheldon entered the IndyCar arena in 2002, and won Rookie of the Year honors in 2003. Only 2 years later, he took the checkered flag in the Indianapolis 500 and won the driver championship the same year. In his inspiring 8 season career, tragically cut short, he posted 134 career starts, collected 26 Top 3 finishes, 93 Top 10 finishes, 5 Pole positions, & won the Rolex 24 Hours at Daytona. In the 100th anniversary running of "The Greatest Spectacle in Racing," Wheldon earned his second Indy 500 crown, becoming only the 18th drive in the 100-year history of the race to win it more than once.

Tragically, the 2011 season was Dan Wheldon's last as he was killed during the last race of the season in Las Vegas on October 16th. He died doing what he loved and will be truly missed.
