This is where it all began for Ayrton Senna. In 1985 at the second round of the season, the Portuguese Grand Prix, Senna took the first pole position of his Formula 1 career. He converted it into his first victory in the race, which was held in very wet conditions, winning by over a minute from Michele Alboreto. Senna would go on to win another 40 more Formula One competitions before his untimely death in 1994.
